Can’t handle cold showers? Try this instead.
Cold showers are easier for some than others — I’m one of the people who finds them extremely challenging, so here’s a hack for when you’re not up for it.
I have tried the cold showers but I truly have to be in the right headspace to get going. I don’t like it. Don’t get me wrong, the more you do it, the easier it gets — and the benefits are noticeable, but it’s really friggen hard when you live in Canada (like I do) and it’s cold outside so your water gets ice cold. Yes, the water is colder in colder places.
But it’s not just that! It’s glacier cold water and then you’re expected to get out of your ice rain into a goddamn cold, tile-floored bathroom? Add a little PMS in there? No thanks.
It’s always that time of the month when I give in and just steam the shit out of myself. When my period starts, all I want is a nice cozy water hug. Not fucking ice hose spraying on every inch and cranny with hatred and vengeance. See? Sometimes — it’s just not my jam.
So, one thing I’ve done to still stimulate my vagus nerve and manage my anxiety by balancing out my nervous system is cold water on my face! If you haven’t heard about your vagus nerve, google it! Especially if you struggle with anxiety and…
