Giving up drinking won’t cure your anxiety.

It will however, help you have a clear enough mind to deal with the things that are causing it. If you’re willing to do the work

One of the main reasons people give up drinking is due to their high anxiety levels — whatever that means for you.

Whether it be physical anxiety — like, waking up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat, heart racing, with the feeling of dread. Or being completely on edge and getting heart palpitations the next day…

Or mental anxiety — like, regretting what you said the night before or how you acted when intoxicated, with your head racing with a million worried thoughts, incessantly.

Regardless of the way it shows up for you — anxiety can be all consuming and completely exhausting. It an also be extremely debilitating and stop your daily functioning — and then the “cure” is alcohol again, to take the edge off and so the addiction or cycle continues…

For some, anxiety finally causes them to give up alcohol altogether, for others, they take breaks and come back to it. That cycle might be 24 hours, it could be weeks or months. However, you’re quickly reminded how off the rails you become with your anxiety levels after drinking again. The withdrawal symptoms are real.
