I Was Reluctant to Eat Meat Again — But It Was The Best Decision
After many years of being a strict vegan — I started eating meat again and my life changed only for the better.
Back in 2012, I went on a completely plant based diet after being hospitalized with a stomach infection called Clostridium Difficile. I ended up having it twice, six months apart, and the second time almost killed me.
It wasn’t meat that caused it, it was prolonged antibiotic use, but while I was in the hospital, I spent my days researching natural cures and dietary changes and found that C. Difficile spores can be found in/on meat. After learning that, and after the hospital dietition told me I needed to “eat more fried chicken” when I got discharged from the hospital because I had lost so much weight (I’m not joking) — I realized I really needed to take matters into my own hands.
I needed to become my own doctor. My own dietitian. I needed to learn the best steps for my own health.
I started drinking kombucha daily and consuming other forms of healthy probiotics to get my gut health back in order. I drank only water and herbal teas for fluids, I quit drinking alcohol, I quit coffee, I stopped eating gluten, I stopped eating any animal products, and I went entirely vegan.
