Ice Cream Increased My LDL Cholesterol THAT Much?
My recent bloodwork showed an alarming increase — so it’s finally time to give up the scoops.
I’m ashamed to admit that I have established an ice cream addiction. One that I have been hiding from my boyfriend, one that I was in denial of. Some of you may laugh at that, but others will relate. I still haven’t talked to him about it but opened up to my best friend who I knew would have grace for me as he struggles with fried foods.
I have so much shame because I’m known as the friend who eats the healthiest. I’m the person people come to for nutrition advice…but here I was, powerless to ice cream.
It became part of my routine, but also something I would look forward to at the end of the day. I would eat quickly dinner simply because I knew there was ice cream waiting for me right after.
I would also justify it because my diet is so healthy otherwise. I cook nearly all my own meals from scratch, I rarely eat anything processed and I’m mostly plant-based. I have a background in holistic nutrition and have been a very healthy eater for many years…until the pandemic when I started to slip.
