My Friends Call Him A Sociopath — I Think They Might Be Right
Breakup Lessons. When You Give It All You’ve Got — But You Get Nothing In Return
Today, I got a call from a friend, “You won’t believe who I just saw…”
I knew what he was about to say, and I felt sick about it. Was he back in our hometown? Was I going to have to run into him in the future? It has been a month and a half since I left my ex, and I don’t ever want to run into him again. I get chills up my spine at the idea. I was scared he might be back in Vancouver, where we both lived before we left on this trip.
However, he wasn’t back in Canada after all, he was seen by my friend, walking down the street in Venice Beach, California. At first, I was relieved, but then, I was angry.
My ex…the one who just a few days prior said he was too broke to pay for gas to get anywhere. He said he was living in his truck, on a mountain outside of Fresno and it was snowing the other night, so he had to go to a Walmart for a sleeping bag…that he couldn’t afford.
My ex… the one who emailed me a few weeks ago saying he had no reason to live (which is the only reason I unblocked him), had no money, no friends, no job, and he was living off of rice and beans. Telling me he would always love me and was doing nothing but focusing on getting his life in order.
