After a year and a half of going for Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF) treatments with a practitioner, I decided to purchase a device for home use (Actually my amazing boyfriend surprised me with one!) It’s great because I get to use him as a case study now too!

It was a pretty big ordeal trying to get it into Canada, but after 6 months and having to switch machines (the first one got stuck in customs forever) it finally came! Just in time for a surgery I had coming up in a few weeks.

I have read a lot about how PEMF devices are being used in other countries to prepare for surgery, assist with pain reduction and speed up the recovery process. I was very excited to try it out for myself.

The surgery I had was a relatively minor skin surgery. It was recommended to prepare for at least 1–2 weeks off work, in bed. The surgeon specifically said that a week or so was normal for the bleeding to cease, but the area would remain sore and inflamed for another week at least after that as the stitches dissolved.

I was nervous about the surgery and cautious about what side effects the PEMF could have if I tried it too soon, so I reached out to some people with experience and read as many articles as I…
