Stop Telling Me To “Eat a Burger” — Just Because I’m Skinny
Judging a book by its cover, or in this case — a person by their appearance is not only a waste of your time — but can be very harmful.
If I had a dollar for every time someone told me to eat a burger, I could buy a Bitcoin when it was at its peak.
I’m not sure why the most common thing people tell me to eat is a burger, but it's by far the most popular. One of the weirdest food recommendations was from a dietitian when I was in the hospital for a week — he told me to eat fried chicken as soon as I was discharged. He analyzed my legs, telling me that I was missing the normal amount of fat near my knees and that fried chicken would be a good choice.

I was in the hospital for a severe stomach infection called Clostridium Difficile, and my body had been savagely ruined. I have always been naturally thin but used to be a gymnast and sprinter. I was strong. I was muscular. Being sick caused me to just waste away.
And here was this man, coming in and telling me to eat fried chicken to gain weight? That is probably the worst thing I could have put in my body when healing my gut. This is what's wrong with the healthcare system…
