The Practice Of Lucid Living
Most of us have heard of lucid dreaming, but for those of you who haven’t — lucid dreaming is essentially being aware that you’re dreaming. You’re not awake, you’re asleep but you’re conscious of your dream and you can even control some of it — or try to. They can also feel very, very real.
I’ve had many lucid dreams before and lately, increasingly often — I’ve found them more and more interesting as I get older. Sometimes, I just watch what happens. Usually, I like to try to replay the dream and attempt to change the outcome, but inevitably, most times I can’t. I might be able to shift some things, but not all — and this can be quite frustrating.
They are always pretty bizarre experiences, and the most bizarre ones have been when I feel the emotions from my dream so vividly that I feel like I’m going to wake up while feeling them. Most commonly I feel like I will wake up crying (not the best) or having an orgasm (not the worst) and more recently — vomiting (definitely not ideal, especially in my bed).
I always lay there witnessing and actually feeling the emotions so vividly, but surprisingly, I don’t wake up. Eventually, it passes and I wake up in the morning aware of my lucid dream most times, but there is a black-out period afterward where I fell back into a deep sleep state.
