The Love Languages will NEVER work if you’re with the wrong partner

Yes- Even if you express love in the way they like to receive it.

If you clicked on this article, you likely already know what the 5 love languages are, but just in case you don’t, here’s a quick summary:

  1. Words of affirmation: Speaking or writing encouraging, supporting, and loving things. Saying “I love you”, “I appreciate you”, and “I’m proud of you” or leaving thoughtful love notes.
  2. Quality time: Spending time together, whether it’s going for a walk, playing tennis, or just hanging out on the couch. Distraction-free, ideally — time spent in each other's presence.
  3. Receiving gifts: Showing up with flowers or their favorite chocolate as a surprise out of the blue.
  4. Acts of service: Taking out the garbage, running errands, or cleaning up the house.
  5. Physical touch: Initiating hand holding, a shoulder rub, sexual intimacy, or even a nice and cozy hug.

The concept is that if you figure out what your partner's love language is (you can take the free quiz on their website here) or, if they don't want to take the quiz, you can usually find out pretty easily by paying attention to what your partner complains about.

Do they constantly nag you about not cleaning up after yourself or forgetting to fold the laundry? They are likely an ‘acts of service’ person.
