I find it weird how immediately when I started writing this, I began to think about all the judgment that comes up around what I eat. What all of us choose to eat. Everyone has their opinions on the healthiest diet…
Vegan. Paleo. Keto. Calorie counting. Gluten-free. Low fodmap. High fat. Low Fat. Pescetarian. The list goes on and on. One day, fruit is good, one day it's terrible. One day fats are good, one day they are terrible.
This is nothing you haven’t heard before but I find there is one diet that comes with the most judgment and that's veganism.
I was vegan for many years, but I kept it pretty quiet. I really disliked and still dislike people who parade themselves around announcing their veganism because it feels like if you’re around them and you have anything that isn’t plant-based — you will be given the vegan stink eye or worse, some kind of lecture.
I never wanted to come across as that person.
And honestly? I kind of fell into veganism, not as much as a conscious decision but it was because of multiple reasons:
- I don't like to handle meat. If it's raw, and I cook it, I'm deterred from eating it. (I’m still this way — someone has to make it for me)
