What Is One Thing You Can Do To Improve Your Health?
My osteopath asked me this question last week — the emphasis being on just one thing. Everyone can come up with one, single thing, right?
What I like about his question, is that it made me really pause and think about it because normally it’s a bigger question about all the things you need to do to be healthy. Eat this food, exercise this way, meditate like that, be social often, don’t work too much, be happy with your work and relationships, get perfect sleep — it was all just a little too overwhelming.
The simplicity of this question made me stop in my tracks— What if I was truly only allowed to choose one thing to change that would improve my health — what would I choose? It really made me start prioritizing and analysing the things I’ve done or could do and what their effects might me.
Amidst all this thinking, I also felt surprisingly relieved. One thing felt much more easy to control and I knew I could could on myself to achieve it. There is no doubt that, regardless of the simplicity of it being just one thing, that's all you truly need for it to have a profound effect, if you choose wisely.
So, I’ve thought about it. A lot.
And I’m challenging you to do the same — because hey, things these days are complicated. The world feels exhausting, people are exhausted. If you’re expected to revamp your diet, leave your relationship, quit your job, start exercising 5 days a week, have a balanced sex life, do something…
